美国研究人员对白鼠的实验结果显示，将携带抗癌药物的纳米微粒注射到白鼠体内移植的前列腺癌细胞后，癌症肿瘤明显消失。这项试验结果在巴黎欧洲癌症研讨会上受到专家们的高度评介，认为纳米技术将来能给癌症患者带来福音。
这项实验是由美国哈佛医学院与马萨诸塞技术研究所共同进行的。研究人员把白鼠分成５组。第一组给白鼠体内肿瘤注射生理盐水，第二组注入不含抗癌药物的纳米微粒，这两组白鼠很快就死了。
第三组白鼠只注射一次含药物的纳米微粒，发现肿瘤先是明显缩小，其后出现强烈反弹；第四组注射的纳米微粒没有针对具体癌细胞，结果发现附着有药物的纳米微粒被体内淋巴组织冲走，肿瘤缩小一半，随后出现反弹。
主持这一研究的法罗克扎德博士介绍说，在最后一组白鼠试验的时候，研究人员把附带药物的纳米微粒持续注射到病变细胞后，“肿瘤则完全消失了。”法罗克扎德博士说，他的研究小组将用两年的时间对患有前列腺癌的病人开展实验。
